How United States citizens apply for Vietnam visa?

United States Citizens still need a visa to enter Vietnam and can apply for both tourist visa and business visa.

UPDATE: Starting from now August 24, 2016, the new policy on Vietnam visa for US citizens officially takes effect. According to the bilateral diplomatic note No. 173/NG-LS, in order to further develop the bilateral relationship between the two countries on the basis of mutual understanding and benefit, in order to enhance the relations in the fields of economy, culture, science and technology, and to encourage travels of citizens of both countries, all the request for tourist visa for US citizens will be changed to 1 year multiple entry visa, 3 months or 1 month.

Thông báo mới nhất vào ngày 24 tháng 8 năm 2016. Tất cả người Việt nam định cư ở nước ngoài, có quốc tịch Mỹ hoặc thường trú nhân đều phải có các loại visa sau đây.
1. Visa lấy ở phi trường Tân Sơn Nhất, (pre-approved visa) có giá trị 3 tháng.
2. Visa 3 tháng, dành cho những người sổ passport, giấy thường trú còn hạn trên 6 tháng, nhưng dưới 1 năm.
3. Sổ miễn thị thực, tối đa là 5 năm, dành cho những người sổ passport còn hạn trên 1 năm.

Người Việt Nam có quốc tịch Hoa Kỳ hoặc thường trú nhân xin cấp giấy miễn thị thực tối đa 5 năm, hoặc Visa.

Đối với người Việt Nam định cư ở nước ngoài, hồ sơ xin giấy miễn thị thực hoặc Visa gồm:

01 Tờ khai (theo mẫu);

01 tấm ảnh màu mới chụp cỡ 4x6 cm
Copy bằng lái xe, hộ chiếu nước ngoài hoặc giấy tờ có giá trị đi lại quốc tế hoặc giấy tờ cho phép thường trú do cơ quan có thẩm quyền của nước ngoài cấp còn thời hạn ít nhất 01 năm.
